Berlin Animals Illustration Series

Colorful Animal Images with Typography

Everything about Berlin inspires me. Including many animals that co-live with the citizens and try to find their place in the changing world where Nature is often forced to shrink back before the pressure of the city life.

The Idea

Coming up with the Series

The series began as a single poster of a fox, but then other animals came into my mind naturally, as they are a part of the daily experience for most Berliners. Love them or hate them (that happens too, somehow), they are in the city with us and learning to live together is something we could all improve at.

My Process

Creative Approach

Each animal started as a flat form I came up with watching how they behave and what distinctive features they have.

01

Support your Local Fox

You might have seen this sneaky guy late at night around your neighborhood. He's mostly minding his own business, but small pets need to steer clear of him!

02

Be ready for a Raccoon

She's here for your garbage, baby. Don't be surprised if you hear the loud bird cries early in the morning, they are warning each other that this plump girl is coming to steal your waste (and heart)

03

Squirrel

She is small and agile as a ninja. You might see her running up the tree with a grace of an acrobat. She goes high and low, but never stops.

04

Wood Pigeon

This curious and often clumsy guy peers in your window with a puzzled look. Do you have any seeds?, He asks you, I know you do!

05

Bear

Is actually unfortunately not a Berlin animal, but I couldn't resist adding him to the series. He is a symbol of the city and a friendly ghost ever-present here throughout the architecture and art.

Composition

Adding text became a way to add life to the pictures and invite to a dialogue.

I created the letters by hand to go together with the quirky animals and their stories.

This series of works can be used as posters that make the space stylish and cool or as postcards to share with the loved ones.
